Here are the captured screen of my laptop just installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 Hardy and tweaked to resemble Mac Leopard Desktop.
Acer 4530 is a great notebook with a good price comes with great graphic controller card GeForce 9100m G. However, you have to install the nvidia driver in order to get the 1280x800 resolution.
Currently, after recompile kernel using 2.6.26.5, I still cannot get the sound and wireless works even they're detected.
Here is for sound using ALSA taken from dmesg:

For wireless card here is what I've got from ifconfig, however, somehow, I just cannot connect
to my Access Point.

Huhuhuhuu penginnnn... saya juga pakai 4530, dah saya dual OS (xp ma vista) akhirnya tambahin lagi ma Ubuntu yang terbaru (sore tadi kelar donlot.)
Sound keluar, LAN kayaknya bisa, WIFI? gak tahu lum nyoba (ini pengalaman perdana saya pakai linux, jadi saya tidak tahu mengeceknya)
Tapi yang jelas driver VGA gak mau jalan :( ada kayak tulisan nya yang kita diharuskan activate restricted driver bla bla bla...)
Udah ada 2 pilihan driver Nvidia, saya pilih yang recommended dah saya tekan tu activate button nya sampai pegel gak mau juga.... apa harus online baru bisa activate?
lalu saya baca2 katanya harus update kernel atau apa gitu... emang itu suatu keharusan?
Mohon bantuannya donk, saya habis install Ubuntu 8.10 di Acer 4530. Seperti yang lain pada awalnya VGA-nya gak bisa, klo Wifi sama Sound bagus.
Sudah praktekkin yg diajarain joepurba di forum linux ubuntu tetap aja gak bisa.
Mohon penjelasan yg lebih detil donk
